LET'S BE GREEN !

Je me suis rendue pour l’occasion à New York, où a lieu la plus grande et la plus ancienne parade au monde. Composée de plus de 150 000 participants venus du monde entier, la parade attire beaucoup de touristes américains et étrangers. Cette année, le temps enneigé n’a pas refroidi les quelques centaines de milliers de spectateurs qui ont assisté à cet impressionnant défilé.

Dès 11h du matin, les troupes se sont mises en marche pour parcourir la 5eme Avenue.  On pouvait y voir des cortèges avec fanfares, majorettes, et militaires. L’ambiance est festive, les petits comme les grands profitent du spectacle, les gens se complimentent sur les déguisements, les mieux habillés sont pris en photos...  

L’après-midi laisse place à une célébration d'un autre type: Tout le monde se retrouve pour boire une bière (plusieurs) dans les pubs irlandais  et de manger le plat typique : corne de bœuf, choux.

Le temps d’une journée, nous sommes tous irlandais.

Saint Patrick était le saint patron et l’apôtre national de l'Irlande. Il est connu pour avoir apporté et répandu le christianisme en Irlande. La plupart de ce que l'on sait de lui vient de ses deux œuvres; la Confession, une autobiographie spirituelle, et son 'Epistola', une dénonciation des mauvais traitements britanniques des chrétiens irlandais.

It was the cultural event not to be missed: ST PATRICK'S DAY, also called 'Shamrock Feast'. This weekend we celebrated St. Patrick's all around the world, all dressed in green!

I went for the occasion in New York, which held the largest and oldest parade in the world. Composed of more than 150,000 participants from around the world, the parade attracts many foreign tourists. This year, the snowy weather did not dampen the hundreds of thousands of spectators who attended this impressive parade.

From 11am, the troops are turned on to browse the 5th Avenue. You could see processions with marching bands, cheerleaders, and military. The atmosphere is festive, the young and old alike enjoy the show, people compliment the costumes, the best dressed pictures are taken ...

The afternoon gave way to a celebration of a different kind: Everyone gather to drink beer (several) in Irish pubs and eating the dish: ox horn, cabbage.
Time of a day, we are all Irish.
